The Experience – 4-Day Moab Monsters Photography Tour
What to Expect
First and foremost, we’re here to nurture the affair you have with your camera. Sony, Canon, Nikon — we don’t judge. (There might even be a Fuji shooter in the mix!) This isn’t about brands, it’s about passion.
Our goal is simple: to help you fall in love with the shutter button all over again. To get you thinking deeply about composition. To train your eye to see the light. To take you out of your daily grind and immerse you in a landscape that demands to be photographed.
Where We’ll Go
Over four days, you’ll experience:
- The world-famous views of Arches and Canyonlands National Parks
- Hidden gems along lesser-traveled BLM roads
- At least one unique Utah State Park
- Dawn-to-dusk shooting in landscapes that feel otherworldly
This isn’t a tour of pull-outs and postcards — it’s a deep dive into Utah’s red rock wilderness.
Hiking & Adventure Level
Yes, there will be hiking. Some walks will be easy, others a little more taxing depending on temps — but nothing technical, nothing extreme. If you’re in reasonably good health, you’ll be fine.
- Bring a sturdy water bottle — we’ll provide plenty of water (and Gatoraide).
- And Becky wants me to remind you: bring a spare roll of toilet paper, just in case. (Don’t worry, we’ll have you covered!)
You WILL get dusty. You will get sweaty. Red dust will find its way into every nook, cranny, and zipper you own — I’m not exaggerating. My 4Runner takes two weeks to clean after these trips, and you’ll still be finding Moab dust long after you’re home.
Long Days, Big Rewards
Expect long days. You’ll be up before the sun even hints at the horizon, headlamp on, gear in hand, waiting for that first glow of light to paint the rocks. And you’ll still be out there long after sunset, chasing the last traces of color in the sky, setting up tripods for the Milky Way, or experimenting with night shots under a blanket of stars.
From golden hour to blue hour to deep night, we’ll squeeze every drop of creative energy out of the desert. It’s not a lazy retreat where you lounge in a hotel and casually stroll out for a snapshot. This is an immersive experience, where the rhythm of your days is tied to the rise and fall of the desert light.
In past tours, participants have found themselves running on something more powerful than sleep — adrenaline, inspiration, and the thrill of the creative process. They’ve discovered reserves of energy they didn’t know they had, fueled by the landscapes, the camaraderie, and the drive to capture something extraordinary.
Yes, it’s demanding. Your body will be tired, your boots will be dusty, and your gear will carry the red sand of the desert home with it. But when you scroll through your images at the end of each day — when you realize you’ve captured shots you never thought possible — you’ll understand why we push this hard.
Sleep is for the plane ride home. Out here, every moment is precious, every second is an opportunity, and you’ll want to be there for all of it.
More Than Just Photos
You’ll come for the landscapes — and they will absolutely blow your mind. Towering arches that frame the sky, canyons carved by eons of time, and desert nights where the Milky Way stretches from horizon to horizon. The images you’ll bring home will be incredible — but here’s the truth: the photos are just part of what makes this adventure special.
What you’ll really take away is something harder to describe and far more lasting — the people. Out here, surrounded by red rock and dust, something happens. You’re not just another photographer chasing a sunset. You’re part of a small group that shares meals, long drives, pre-dawn wakeups, and that crazy rush of scrambling to catch the light before it’s gone.
There’s a bond that forms in those moments. It’s the kind of connection that goes beyond gear talk or camera settings — it’s about friendship, encouragement, and inspiration. Some of the strongest professional and personal relationships we’ve made have come from these trips, and past participants still keep in touch, share work, and cheer each other on years later.
So yes, you’ll get amazing images. But what you’ll leave with are lifelong friends and a place in the Monster family. Once you’ve done a Moab Monsters trip, you’re never really on your own again — you’ve got a crew who understands what drives you and who will always have your back.
The Wild Nature of Wilderness
This is the desert in its raw form — wild, rugged, and unforgettable. You’ll stand where few tourists ever wander, capture light that changes by the second, and experience moments that can’t be staged or scripted.
Moab Monsters is about more than photography. It’s about connection — to your art, to the land, and to each other.
